-this cow has an extra leg that I wish someone would get rid of so he doesn't get made fun of...
The holidays are all fun and games and food and wine until a couple days after the first when the tree has to come down. Today I watched my mother as she hastily packed away the ornaments as if it was so painful that she needed to rush to get it over with. "Goodbye, Christmas... for another year" she pouted as she stared at the little heart-shaped pillow ornament embroidered in red with the word, "Joy." I guess her hairdresser had given her that ornament back in California to congratulate her on having her child, that child being me. Its once white lace border is now stained pink from one of the floods our basement endured which happened to get ahold of some of our Christmas stuff. It looked kind of sad, sitting at the top front and center of our tree, like it had had enough torture of the overwhelming weight of having to carry around such a bold word, "JOY." After all, it was the threads of that very word that stained the rest of its white. Why the hell would anyone want to read any of this? I don't really know but I'm sure some incredibly bored Blog perusing soul will stumble upon it and picture the little ornament..
So I watched my mother for a few more minutes before getting up to help with the agonizing task of packing up Christmas once again.
Ew I'm being such a bum. I just read The Secret Life of Bees and I loved it so much that I'm depressed it had to end. I started it at 10 oclock this morning and didn't move until this afternoon when I'd finally finished the whole book. Ok thats it I have absolutely nothing worthwhile to say.
